Who is eligible to be a GBY member?

Young people between the age of 16 and 40 from the African continent, of the African Diaspora, of African-descent or who identify as Black or part of the Black Diaspora, working for the social, political, economic or cultural betterment of their communities or societies.

What does membership offer?

Members become part of a global community of change-makers. They are offered early access to the GBY Fest as well as other training, leadership, and funding opportunities.

Is there an age limit for membership eligibility?

People between the age of 16 and 40 are eligible to apply for membership.

Do I have to be in or from Africa to be a member?

No. Black people from all over the world can apply for membership.

How are GBY members selected?

Members are selected through a rigorous application process. The GBY team and our advisors represent a variety of sectors that identify the most innovative, disruptive and creative young black people to contribute to the GBY community.

What is the application deadline?

There is no application deadline. Interested people are encouraged to submit an application at any time.

Do I have to pay to be a GBY member?

No. Membership is completely free.
